Happiest when taking a walk in the mountains or eating an organic home-cooked meal with her family, Vinita Contractor,
founder of Down 2 Hearth, is a passionate advocate of the benefits of the plant- based diet and lifestyle and doing her bit
for the environment. After a professional background in Commerce and subsequently Education (Bachelor's Degree and a certificate
in Waldorf education), she found her true calling with Down 2 Hearth after turning vegan in May 2015.
A lifelong learner and lover of yoga, Vinita loves experimenting with new recipes and trying out new combinations, which not only nourish the body but also satiate the taste buds.
Vinita Contractor, is a Nutrition Coach, Wellness Chef, Food consultant and Founder of Down 2 Hearth. She is based in Mumbai, India where she regularly conducts Whole Food Plant- Based (WFPB) cooking and baking workshops. She has also taken cooking demos and workshops in other cities in India as well as in Bali, Indonesia and in the UK. She offers health consultations for weight loss and disease reversal of lifestyle diseases through WFPB foods and other holistic approaches. She conducts Health and Wellness Retreats away from the city amidst nature to experience the power of the WFPB lifestyle in an immersive way. In addition, she also develops plant- based recipes and curates plant- based menus for restaurants and cafes. She has been featured several times in newspaper publications such as Asian Age, Mumbai Mirror, Midday etc. She also has a YouTube Series of Vegan Cooking with Vegan First which offers in- depth and easy substitutes as well as interesting dishes to support all those who would like to adopt this lifestyle.

- Certificate in Ayurvedic Diet from Kerala Ayurveda Academy, Aluva, Kochi, Kerala.
Vinita is married to her best friend and her biggest supporter, and they love travelling with their two sons and being out surrounded by nature!
